Remarkable Part: Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

The moment I realized that every creature in this world has a precious life to respect, I started treating them that. Because, really, it's always the case. So yeah, I'm one of those people who doesn't kill a spider just because it shares my space; I don't kill ants walking across the table because they, too, has a life and why would I take it away just because I have the ability to do so?

And reading this book, highlights that side of me and strengthens my thesis about life of other creatures. And made me realize that there are people who think the same way I do with this certain topic.

I actually don't have much remarkable part to share with you except these lines from the start and repeated at the end. Because yeah, it's a fact.

Here it is:

My Hopes are High

" I hope that wherever you go next, you feel peace, you feel safe in a way that you never did here."
"I can love you and still let you go."

As I was browsing FB, I came across this post, these lines from the series 13 Reasons Why, and it reminded me of one person -- my Mama.

It's been almost 5 months since she went in the arms of God. I know she's in the loving arms of God now and that she no longer feel pain and suffering brought by her illness and by certain circumstances in life. Still, the pain of losing her pains me. Not granting her healing, still hurts. Losing her still hurts. I don't know if it's just a phase I need to go through; that the mourning will pass as time goes by. As of now, it feels that this pain will always stay in my heart, and that's okay. I'm okay with that. I can move on from it and still feel the pain of losing her. It's part of me now and that's okay. Maybe I will be hurt everytime I remember that she could have lived her life with us happy and abundantly without illness and failure from her dreams that she maybe dreamt of ever since she was young. And I saw her failing every time she tries. But who I am to say that she has failed. Maybe she has succeeded more than that and it's just between her and God.

The beautiful life I imagine with her that never happened in this timeline will always haunt me though I know she is perfectly happy and fine wherever she is now.

My hopes are high that wherever she is right now, she feels peace, she feels safe and healthy, she finds true love the way she never did here.

I love you, Mama. I can love you and still let you go.

Remarkable Part: The Reason, The Mystery, The Return by Lacey Sturm

If you have heard about Flyleaf, then most probably you know who is Lacey Sturm. Yes, she was the vocalist of the band, now she uses her voice through writing about her testimonies and relationship with God. She continues to encourage more young people through her books and speaks.

She has written, as far as I know, 3 books. Yes, the ones mentioned at the title.

Since, my brother bought her 3 books, I hod the chance to read them and was inspired by her story and her passionate walk with God.

And here are rhe remarkable parts of the books (I am not going to mention which book the posted remarkable part is. It's up to you to find out, so I encourage you to read them too) :

1.

2.

3.
Sometimes, our God just wants to be our friend, not seeking praises or repentance, He just wants to be there to comfort and have a talk just like a best friend.

"I had begun cold towards others. I doubted the ability to show the hope I had found to those who needed it. It was like the prodigal son. When he returned to his father after hitting bottom, he pleaded to him to be treated like one of his father's servant. That was his mentality. Just make me a servant. But his father would have none of that. He restored him to his status as a son and heir."

Remarkable Scene: Cardboard Boxer

LAHAT

If you do not understand the word above, please use Google Translate: Filipino to English. Salamat! :D

But let me put the scene where I cried myself out loud, or in our word "ngal-ngal"... but still, I managed to "ngal-ngal"  quietly. :P

Also, the film itself (including the story, script, cinematography, actors, background music, and everything that completes the film) is remarkable or probably beyond. Watch it to further understand what I'm talking about.

P.S. I was actually looking for a film to watch then delete right after the end. But this one is staying. :D

Remarkable Part: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Several months ago, the TV series of this book was released and have watched by many. And for quite some time it went trending on line. While I, who's not into "what's in and what's not", managed to ignore the hype -- the way I am ignoring Game of Thrones. Well, I don't know if ignoring is the right term, but seriously, I don't give an F ;p or they're just aren't my thing.

Anyway, a friend from work has a copy of the book even before the series came to life. I wasn't aware of it. I didn't know that Thirteen Reasons Why was originally from a novel. So, I asked her the difference between the two and which is better. She said, the series changed several things from the original story. And she suggested that I should try reading the novel and later compared it with the TV series.

And now, here I am sharing my thoughts regarding its remarkable parts... remarkable parts for me, of course. Who else will be the judge here?  ;p

1.
 ...money.

(Halfway reading this book, I started to question the story. Like, "Gosh, what kind of town / school is this? Why all the characters are evil? Lahat na lang masama ugali? Duh!" And then, finally, I read something like this. At least, the book still proves that there's still hope in humanity.)

2.

(I feel Hannah. People need to stop talking when they don't even understand what they're talking about: the subject or the situation. Sometimes we just think what to say, but obviously failed to feel. And the truth is, we become a sounding cymbals. It's so annoying. And sometimes, irritating. And that won't help anyone.)

3.

(This book didn't mention about God. Not even a single word about Him. What the book failed to tell as a whole is that people who go through situations like Hannah should surrender everything to God. Yes, give up! Give up and give all your burdens, heartaches, disappointments, failures, brokenness and everything in between. Give it up to God. Cry it all out to Him -- The Great Listener, The Father, The Comforter and so on. He knows what you are going through and He wants you to stop looking around you and fix your eyes on Him. You are seeking help almost to everyone except God. Hannah did look and seek help to people around her, although indirectly, and she keeps on failing. Why? Because people, or whoever that person is, they will eventually fail you at some point in your life. We do that and we are so good at that. But God will not. And the lines above, reminds me of God. This is a perfect representation of Him and someone who completely leans on Him. We should be that car and God is our owner. He is always around to fix you.)

4.

(This reminds me of my man. The only man, next to God, who tried harder and keeps on trying harder. And wouldn't it be nice to do the same with your loved ones? They will thank you in the end and you will probably thank yourself too. They will feel good, and you will too. It's a win win situation. :D)

So there goes your penny for my thoughts.  ;p
And by the way, I'm still not going to watch the TV series. So, will you do the comparison for me. :D

Remarkable Scene: Little Miss Sunshine

I was following a page in twitter (I don't know if 'page' is the term, but I know almost everybody has Facebook so probably you'll get what I mean ;P) which features movie lines and quotes. And then,  one of their posts caught my attention or probably moved me in some ways. So, I look at the description to see the title of the movie and it says, "Little Miss Sunshine". I immediately, watched its trailer and then decided to download the whole film.

I was not expecting too much from the film, but then as the movie began playing, I was literally hooked on it already.

Here are some of the remarkable scenes that are worth sharing because they remind us of the reality of life and the lessons to get through it. It gave me the idea that it's alright if reality beaten and bitten you hard; 'life's a bitch' that's what they say and you gotta be bitchier than it together with your family or friend and don't forget God, please. :D

These scenes below were not in chronological order though.

1. Dad talking to his son who just failed a business deal. What made it heartwarming was connected to their personality. So, find out what personalities they have. :P You will have a hint as you continue to read this blog. :D

2. Of course, everyone of us needs to be reminded of this.

3. Yeah, it is remarkable because I can relate to the old man. :p

4. This is what apathy looks like. -_-

5. You'll find out why I considered this remarkable when you watch the film. The first line was from the Mom.

6. Reality bites, indeed.

7. Don't listen to the standard of media when it comes to beauty. ;)

8. We all been here.

9. Because sufferings mold, shape and make a better version of us.

Now the list below were the remarkable scenes that made me cry. Literally cried the hell out of me.

1. Yes, that very moment.

2. (T.T) (T.T) (T.T)....

3. Mother knows best. :)

4. You'll know why it's part of this list when you watch the film. :p

So, there you go. I hope I didn't spoil the movie for you. ;P
